A response to the pastoral of Mariano José de Escalada y Bustillos Zeballos, Archbishop of Buenos Aires (pp. 9-13), which censured a book by Bilbao entitled 'La América en Peligro'. Sections include the pastoral, contra-pastoral, and appendices covering 'La esperanza de la libertad al ciudadano Francisco Lopez-Torres', 'La América en peligro', and 'Ecce-Homo a Garibaldi'
