The Netherlands Minister in London recently informed
a member of this department that the Netherlands Minister
at Washington had heard that the Japanese Government had
made a proposal to the United States Government for the
neutralisation, of the Philippine Islands;-     On Count
Limburg Stirum enquiring whether His Majesty*6 Government
had received similar reports he was told that no information
on the subject had so far been received hut that he would he
duly notified if any report was forthcoming.
