DEPARTMENT OP STATE FOR THE PRESS OCTOBER 30, 1939, No. 551 PITY OF FLINT Ambassador Laurence Steinhardt reported the following Tass despatch published in the Moscow press: "The steamship City of Flint has left Murmansk. "Murmansk October 28 Tass. On October 28 in the evelng the steamship City of Flint after the machinery had been repaired) left the port of Murmansk." The American Charge d'Affaires at Berlin, Mr. Alex- ander C. Kirk, reported on October 29 that he had been informed orally by the Foreign Office that it was still without definite information as to the whereabouts of the vessel.
