'/$    your note no. 506 of November 24, 1939, informing me
under instructions from His Britannic Majesty's Principal
Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the expression
in the final report of Sir Neville Henderson concerning
his mission to Berlin of the latter1s appreciation of the
sympathy and assistance received by him and the members of
his staff from the United States Embassy at Berlin in con-
nection with their departure from Germany,     Your note
also conveyed on behalf of your Government and of Sir
Neville Henderson personally, their deep appreciation of
the helpfulness of our Charge d1Affaires ad interim,
Mr. Kirk.

Kirk and our Embassy at Berlin were able to render In
connection with the winding up of the affairs of the
British Embassy at Berlin and the departure from Germany
of Sir Neville Henderson and the members of his staff.
