September, 1938, Sir, I am directed by Mr. Secretary MacDonald to acknowledge the receipt of the Dominions Office letter No. P.720/1U9 of the 13th of September, regaruin, the strategic importance of the pacific Islands and to state, for the information of Lord Stanley, that hs concurs in the proposal that all arrangements for the suggested survey of a landing -round in Fiji shoulu be made direct between the New Zealand Government and the High Commissioner for the Western Pacific. 2m I am to enclose a copy of a telegram which has been sent to the High Commissioner* in this connection. 3.
