Pacific Islands.     Hi8 IV. josty's Govemnent in Hew Zealand
will "be most happy to fall in with the suggestion made "by
Ilis Majesty's Government in the United kingdom and ore
prepared to proceed forthwith with proposed survey of the
route.     They would "be Grateful therefore if operator and
apparatus referred to in paragraph 7 of your telegram
could he despatched as proposed so as to arrive at Fiji on
the 17th November.
12th September His Majesty's Government in Hew Zealand had
already arranged to commence survey for a landing ground,
tflji and   for that purpose on officer of the New Zealand

immediately available for an extension of the survey to
Christmas Island, liukunono and Hull Island.
H.n.S. Leander arrangements have already heen made for her
to visit Guva towoi^e the middle of November. In view of
proposal now made it is intended that "before departure from
Auckland II.M.S. Leandor will emhark party for Survey* and
will embark the operator and appartus referred to above on
arrival at Guva,departing on 17th Eoveirfber direct for
