Dear Mallet:
I am writing this note to inquire whether you
have received any reply as yet with regard to our
suggestions in the proposed exchange of notes con-
cerning the Joint occupation of Canton and Enderbury
Islands.   Believing that we are now in very close
agreement on both the language of the notes and
that the text of the new license meets your Govern-
ment1 s preoccupations, Judge Moore and I are hopeful
that we may come to a final understanding as soon as
possible*
