Pacific Defence Conference Report P rt 2. By
Prime ."inister desires me to infom you that His Modesty's
Government in New Zealand are taking the following action,
inter alia, to implement paragraphs of the Report:~
Paragraphs 2   3 and 33.     As a general policy, stocks
of commodities considered essential for civilian consumption and
for domestic industries are "being "built up to six months
requirements.
Paragraphs 4 and 6.     Steps will he taken to establish
a closer liaison with Australia.     Appointment of ask Army
Liaision Officer in London has been approved.
Paragraphs 5, 22   32 and 33.     necessary survey of
the resources of supply and potential requirements are "being
conducted "by a special connittee.     Comments of His MajestyTs
Government in the United Kingdom are desired regarding the
practicability of establishing "buying organisations envisaged
in paragraphs 32 and 33.
Paragraphs 7 to 9 and 34 to 36.     High Commissioner
for i.'ew Zealand is being instructed by letter to initiate
discussions on these matters with His Majesty's Government in
the United Kingdom; copies of part 2 of the Report are teing
sent to him at the same time.
Paragraphs 2 and 12 to 21.     The armed
services are now Investigating the whole question of munitions
pro rata and dormant orders.
Paragraph 23.     Now being investigated.
Paragraph 31.     Will be taken up by individual services
with appropriate Departments in the United Kindom and Australia.
