Mr. Reynolds introduced the following joint resolution; which was read twice
and referred to the Committee on Foreign Relations
JOINT RESOLUTION
For the acquisition of British islands in the Caribbean and
'* '. British Honduras.
1 Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives
2 of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
3 That the President is hereby requested to enter into nego-
4 tiations in such manner as he may deem appropriate, with
5 the Government of Great Britain for the acquisition by the
6 United States of the islands of the Bermudas; the Bahamas—
7 Jamaica with the Turks, Oaicos, and Cayman Islands;
8 Trinidad and Tobago; Barbados; the Leeward Islands—
9 Antigua, Saint Kitts, Nevis, Dominica, Montserrat, and
10 Virgin  Islands;  the  Windward  Islands—Grenada, The
11 Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent; together with
12 British Honduras, in part payment for the indebtedness of
13 such Government to the United States.
