On instructions from His Majesty's
Principal Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs,
I have the honour to inform you that should it,
contrary to Lord Halifax's hopes, he necessary to
withdraw His Majesty's Consuls from French North
African territories, it is the hope of His Majesty's
Government in the United Kingdom that the United
States Government would "be prepared to take over
the protection of British interests in these
territories.
The Consular posts in question are:-
Algerla.
Algiers
Bougie
Oran
Bone
Morocco.
Casablanca
Masagan
Marrakesh
Saffi
Rabat
Fez
Tunisia.
Tunis
Sfax
Sun
Kalrouan
Should the above request be agreeable to the
United States Government, Hie Majesty's Government
