I wish to acknowledge formally to you the acceptance of the
deposit in the Library of Congress of the original manuscript of
the Lincoln Cathedral copy of Magna Carta yesterday at 3:15 P*m.
The Charter will be preserved here subject to the disposition
of the British Government communicated through its diplomatic rep-
resentative in Washington,   It will not be sent to any other place
for exhibit except with express permission therefor received through
the British Onbassy.
