U: a ¦ The 3ritish Government has sent to the British Ambassador in Washington detailed instructions about measures of economic warfare, which it will be necessary to take in the event of the British Ecpire being engaged in hostilities with Japan, These instructions include a request for sympathetic cooperation in the event of the United states being neutral and for close collaboration in the event of the United States also being involved in hostilities. The instructions cover a large number of points of detail, many of which, in the judgment of the British .Ambassador, require some modification in the light of steps that the united States Government has recently taken in the interests of economic defence against aggression. The British Ambassador suggests )L M» that, subject to the approval of the united states Government, the points of detail which require consideration be subjected to joint examination by such officials as the united states Government may care to select and by members of the staff in the British Embassy in Washington.
