Abstract

Interview with Chris Hinton, 11 January 2010

Chris Hinton began his teaching career in London in the mid-1970s, before moving to an East Sussex comprehensive where he introduced the Schools History Project. Chris was Deputy Head at the time of the interview. Chris began writing teaching materials on a secondment for SHP in the late 1980s and later co-wrote text books for Key Stage 3 and A level. Chris discusses the way in which he introduced SHP into the East Sussex school and why it has been successful for students. He discusses the AEB 673 A level history course. He also talks about the way in which technology has changed his teaching and airs concerns about the pressures on history in schools as a result of league tables. Interviewed by Dr Nicola Sheldon
