Abstract
Interview with Aziz Pahad carried out in Johannesburg on Thursday, 18th April 2013 part of the Commonwealth Oral History Project. The project aims to produce a unique digital research resource on the oral history of the Commonwealth since 1965 through sixty oral history interviews with leading figures in the recent history of the organisation. It will provide an essential research tool for anyone investigating the history of the Commonwealth and will serve to promote interest in and understanding of the organisation. Biography: Pahad, Aziz. 1940- . African National Congress in London, 1966-1985; National executive Committee of the ANC, 1985- ; Returned to South Africa from exile, 1990; Deputy Head of the ANC Department of International Affairs, 1991; National Peace Executive Committee, 1991-1992; Transitional Executive Council's Sub-Council on Foreign Affairs, 1994; elected member of parliament, appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, 1994-2008.
