Discussion of English and French involvement with Brazil's interventions in the Rio de la Plata, with chapters on traditional policy, the 1823 annexation of the province of Chiquitos, Bolivia, and Brazil's interventions in the Rio de la Plata. Followed by documents including details from provisional government sessions held 13 April 1825 in Mato Grosso, and a letter from Antonio José de Sucre to Brazilian commander Manuel José de Arauzo, concerning troops on the frontier of the province of Chiquitos
