Abstract
Response to the article 'El amante de la constitucion', signed A. R., which maintains that friars and religious orders have no use in present-day Mexico. The document argues for the usefulness of certain religious institutions, for example the mendicant orders, the Compañia de Jesus and the order of San Juan de Dios, and their assistance with various public services including maintaining civil order, education, and helping the poor and the sick.
