Abstract
Should HMG issue a démarche to the US regarding its claims to annex Howland, Baker and Jarvis Pacific islands and whether the COlonial Office should remove Howland and Baker islands from their list of the Phoenix Islands. Also discusses possible claims on islands due to commercial trans-Pacific air routes between Canada and New Zealand, and on the eligibility of erecting air bases on Nukunono and Kingman Reef.
