Pan-American Airways potentially losing UK Customs tax exemption

Citation: Unknown (1939) Pan-American Airways potentially losing UK Customs tax exemption. No Publisher, uk. (Unpublished)

Notes on a meeting with Mr. Johnson, a Counsel in the US Customs Bureau, where the UK official suggested that UK Customs may cease exemption of duty for Pan-American Airlines if the US does not reciprocate for Imperial Airways. Mr. Johnson confirms that the Department of Commerce had sanctioned UK exemption from specific US duties but that it was unlikely that it would be retrospective to 1937. It includes a handwritten comment by a UK official on the outcome of this conversation.
