Abstract
UK Embassy official internal discussion regarding US and UK sovereignty claims for certain Pacific islands, including the Phoenix Group and the Line Islands. Author questions the motives for the US claim for sovereignty being distinct to its material interests, and suggests that international arbritration may be the outcome for contested islands.
