Abstract
Account of an incident that took place off the coast of Algeria. French shore batteries attacked British light forces. Debate as to what cargo the French convoy were carrying. While the French claimed it contained food, the Admiralty suspect it carried German war material. The British claim that the French initiated the confrontation between the forces.
