London's green spaces and contested heritage: a research audit and analysis of London's public parks and gardens and their links to the slave trade in response to the government's 2021 Retain and Explain policy

This dissertation investigates the contested history of green spaces within London through the compilation of a database of research results. These findings have undergone general statistical analysis, as well as historical analysis with regard to the connections any
contentious sites have with the slave trade. In addition to this analysis, the level of engagement of London’s 33 local authorities with contested history in their own green spaces has been assessed. Discussion and recommendations have been set out in order to assist any future undertakings by councils and other bodies in researching green spaces and contested history.
