Speeches from the opening of a literary salon for the younger generation of Argentina, outlining the purposes and aims of the salon and its library, lessons and lectures. Followed by two articles: 'Doble armonia entre el objeto de esta institucion, con una exigencia de nuestro desarrollo social; y de esta exigencia, con otra general del espiritu humano', by Juan Bautista Alberdí, and 'Fisonomia del saber español; cual deba ser entre nosotros', by Juan María Gutiérrez
