Text of the Plan de Veracruz, made by Antonio López de Santa Anna in December 1822, an important precursor to the successful Plan de Casa Mata pronounced on 1 February 1823, which led to the removal from power of Agustín de Iturbide. The manifesto establishes Mexico as an independent sovereignty with Catholicism as the state religion
